Brad -guitar/producer
When I was around 7 or 8 years old I got cassette copy of Nirvana’s Nevermind album. Discovering music in a way that I had never heard before changed my life forever. I was hooked from there on out and knew I wanted some part in creating. I wanted to create the same type of “painting pictures” and “conveying emotion”, in such a raw form.
Soon after, I picked up the electric guitar and started to learn Songs from some of my favorite brands like the Beatles, Queen, Aerosmith, Metallica ect. When the early 2000’s rolled around I discovered the post rock, hard-core, music scene. Not all but mostly underground Christian music. I helped start a hard-core band called Hide The Runaways which lasted for a few good years. When I decided to leave HTR I wanted to start recording other bands.
Joe and I have been best friends since the 4th grade. We have always shared our Christian faith and good taste in music. So after over 10 years of not playing in a band it was time for him and I to collab on some ideas for songs he had written. What started out as a jam session, eventually turned into our current band, Megiddo. Which was formed in February ‘21. After about a year of sharpening up our axes and making instrumentals. It was time to find a vocalist that would complement our sound.
Shortly after we soon adopted Dustin. Turns out he was the first and only to try out. He’s all we needed. While the meat of our content is created in my studio, we all collaborate afar from our own computers and share songs, riffs, ideas back and forth via Dropbox.
Dustin-Vocals Bio
I grew up only listening to gospel and country music. When my dad came back from Iraq he taught me a few chords on the guitar and that was the beginning of my journey into heavy music. I quickly got bored with gospel and country music and, after being introduced to Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, and A Day to Remember, began to progressively get into heavier and heavier music. Doing vocals came along with this journey as I began to write my own music or try to sing along with my new favorite genre. I was endowed with heavy rock and metal my freshman year of high school. Chester's scream vocals from Linkin Park and the heavy tones of Breaking Benjamin hooked me like a fish. I started playing guitar about seventeen years ago because of those bands in my teens. Some current influences of those heavier bands are Born Alive, ERRA, Born of Osiris.
I currently live in Port Arthur, Texas where I provide the vocals and lyrics for Megiddo. I have a solo metal project called Through This War. I became the official vocalist for Brad and Joe's project Megiddo back in March of this year (2023). Lyrically, I want our listeners and fans to both understand the deeper things of God, and the reality of tribulations and trials that Christians struggle with and are not perfect. For instance, Mouth of Blood is a modern interpretation from Matthew chapter 23 where Christ condemns the religious leaders for their lies and greed of His time. Similarly, he would condemn the actions of our current religious leaders primarily from the western world that teach spiritualism and prosperity gospel.
Joe Chutter- Rhythm guitar and bass
Metal music has been a part of me almost as long as my faith. My uncle played guitar and bass and some of my friends listened to metal. I took some acoustic lessons back when I was nine. It was a big fender and I couldn't get over the awkwardness to stick with that at the time. Those influences in my early teens drove me pick up the bass. When thirteen came around I got an black Ibanez bass gig pack. I threw a wrench in things at my school and told my band teacher that I was done with the trombone and wanted to play Amazing Grace on bass during our Christmas program.
I learned bass and guitar via ear and some tablature. Brad and I jammed out many times through high school. But nothing came to be at the time. My biggest highlight before Megiddo in my career was Blood-guilt, a Christian thrash metal band from Asheville. In my early twenties I was the bassist in that band for almost a year. I have gained gear and instruments over time and lost some. But over the last three years God and my lovely wife have invested in me and pushed me.
I am influenced by many heavy metal bands. We all have the common ones, so I'll put up some different ones:
Norma Jean, Zao, The Showdown, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Zakk Wylde, Bleeding Through, and Arch Enemy are a few that I couldn't keep out of my ears in the early 2000's.
I hope and pray that the music Megiddo produces will become a hope and driving force for our listeners and fans.
Brad and Joe have been best of friends since childhood. It took time for them to finally get together mix their skills and
artistry. Megiddo is a Christian metalcore band. Brad plays lead/rhythm and is engineer while Joe plays rhythm/lead and bass. Our vocalist Dustin joined Megiddo on our fourth release Mouth of Blood. Dustin lives in the great state of Texas. ...more
